Resorts of Ontario




Resorts of Ontario is a private not-for-profit association of over 100 member resorts and inns - all very diverse in size, style, price range, facilities and services that are offered to the vacationing public. We have a separate division for suppliers to our industry that has over 80 members.

Resort members benefit from strategic marketing programs and many co-operative buying ventures that reduce costs on volume purchases and provide an excellent dollar return on investments.

We take our members into the domestic and international marketplace and have gained an enviable track record in creating new business as well as developing an image of the Ontario resort vacationing experience - Come on up to our place.

On behalf of, and with the participatory support of members we make the best possible purchases in print, trade show and electronic media directed to the consumer, meeting planner and travel trade. We also produce our own publications with over 1 million in print runs, establishing economically and demographically sound distribution into the marketplace. We invite major corporations to partner with us to take advantage of our direct and media planning initiatives.

Our central office works for the members to ensure that vacationers and the travel trade are provided solid, up-to-date information via phone, fax and email.

When and where appropriate, the association acts as a lobbying force with governments in the interests of both the consumer and the resort industry regarding laws, regulations and taxation.

Resorts of Ontario organizes and produces workshops, Annual Convention, special member events and the Preferred Supplier Trade Show. As well as meeting the constitutional needs of the organization, this provides great networking and educational opportunities for resort members and a venue for the Preferred Supplier Division to show their latest and greatest products and services to resort owners and managers.

Founded in 1942 as the Association of Tourist Resorts of Ontario, the original mandate was to act as lobbyists to governing bodies. Governed by an elected Board of Directors that establishes policy and oversees the direction and duties of a professional management staff with offices in Orilia, Ontario, the organization has grown and flourished and turned its primary focus to marketing its member resorts. The majority of member resorts are independently owned and operated and often 3rd and 4th generation ownerships. The mixture of represented properties offers an incredibly wide range of options for the consumer.
